Our Mission
United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
Anti-racism/Ethnic Discrimination & Racial Inequities Policy; To unequivocally denounce racism and ethnic discrimination because it undermines the well being and vitality of our communities. Our United Way strives to engage community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized.
Diversity Policy; The United Way of the Shippensburg Area is committed to the principle of diversity. We adhere and agree to the quality of being different or unique at the individual or group level. We believe in diversity and balance at all times through different sectors in every capacity. We therefore value, champion, and embrace diversity in all aspects of United Way activities and respect others without regard to race, color, religion, creed, age, sex, national origin or ancestry, marital status, veteran status, union membership, sexual orientation, or status as a qualified disabled or handicapped individual. We refuse to engage in or tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.
Nondiscrimination Policy; The United Way of the Shippensburg Area shall not discriminate on any basis and will remain in compliance with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and all relevant Federal discrimination statutes.
Our Goals
United Way World Wide initiated a program designed to achieve the following goals:
- Improve education, and cut the number of high school dropouts every year.
- Help people achieve financial stability, and get working families on the road to economic independence.
- Promote healthy lives, and increase the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.
With your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can continue to achieve them.
